Town Meeting 2026 Timeline:

Monday January 12, 2026 by 4:00pm at the Ferrisburgh Town Clerk’s office 17 V.S.A. § 2642(a)(3)(A) requires petitions for articles at Town Meeting to be filed "not less than 47 days before the day of the meeting". Filing Deadline.

Monday, January 19, 2026 (40 days before town meeting) First day for the legislative body to warn the meeting by posting the warning and notice in at least two public places and in or near the town clerk’s office. The warning shall also be posted on the municipality’s website if it is regularly updated. 17 V.S.A. § 2641(a), (b)

Monday January 26, 2026 (Sixth Monday before election) 5:00PM deadline for filing with the town clerk a written consent form for the candidate's name to be on the Australian ballot for local office. 17 V.S.A § 2681(a).

Saturday, February 28, 2026, Town Meeting is held the Saturday morning before Town Meeting Day.

Tuesday, March 3, 2026 Vermont Town Meeting Day (unless the town charter changes the date or the voters have voted to begin on one of the three days preceding this day). 1 V.S.A. § 371(a)
