Research Land Records
To access the Land Records Portal click here. Digital land records are scanned back to 1980.
Deeds, mortgages, liens, etc. are on file at the Town Clerk's office. Copies may be obtained at $1.00 per page. See "Vermont Recording Fees" below for fees to record documents in the land records.
Our office does not look up recording information over the phone or perform title research. We can help residents use our software program to find documents/maps, but we cannot offer legal advice.
Property Taxes Payment
Due four times a year (September 1, December 1, March 1 and June 1) and cover the period of July 1 - June 30.
Dog Licenses
Due by April 1 of each year ($11 for neutered/spayed dog; $15 non-neutered/spayed dog). For information on the town's ordinance regulating dogs, click here.
Marriage and Civil Union Licenses
At least one party must a be a resident of the town or both parties must be from out-of-state with the ceremony to be performed in Addison County. Blood tests are not required. License fee is $80.00 plus $10.00 for a certified copy. There is no waiting period to use the license but it must be used within 60 days of issuance.
Green Mountain Passports
Green Mountain Passports are available to legal residents of Vermont age 62 or older, and to Veterans of the uniformed services - Provide form DD214 or see indication on driver's license. The $2 lifetime passport is valid immediately; holders are eligible for free admission to state parks and museums, historic sites, exhibits and lands. (Overnight camping and other park fees are excluded).
Hunting and Fishing Licenses
Licenses are available for Vermont and out-of-state residents. All hunters are required to have a license; proof of a prior license or hunter safety card is required for all hunting or archery licenses. Residents 15 years or older are also required to have a fishing license.
Motor Vehicle Registration Renewal
Cars, trucks, boats, trailers, etc. may be registered at the Town Clerk’s office. Bring your renewal notice and a check made out to the Department of Motor Vehicles for the amount of your renewal. There is a $3 fee payable to the Town of Ferrisburgh for this service.
Voter Checklist Application
You must be a resident of the town and at least 18 years of age to become a registered voter.

Copies of Vital Records
Photocopies or certified copies of birth, death, and marriage records on file are available. Photocopies are $1.00 each and $10.00 each for certified records. Genealogy searches are welcome and will be performed by the researcher.
Notarize Documents
The Town Clerk staff are all active Vermont Notaries Public. You may bring in documents to be notarized free of charge, during office hours. Appointments are not required, but calling or emailing in advance is appreciated.
Recording Process
Documents can be dropped off at the Clerk's Office, Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m., or mailed to the Town of Ferrisburgh, 3279 Route 7, Ferrisburgh, VT 05456. Documents are assigned a book and page number, stamped, scanned, and then indexed in our software program. The process takes about a week or two, and then the originals are mailed back. Return envelopes are very helpful but not required.
Even if no money is exchanged, all documents conveying property must accompany Vermont Property Transfer Tax Return, Form PTT-172. Contact the Vermont Tax Department for information on this form at 802-828-2542.
Vermont Recording Fees
Fees for recording documents in the land records, set by the State Legislature.
The State of Vermont established the following Recording Fees, effective July 1, 2019, 32 VSA 1671:
$15 per Page, or per Discharge (whichever is more), except UCCs
$15 per Vermont Property Transfer Tax Return (PTTR)
$25 per Map (18" X 24" Mylar)
$45 per UCC
$25 per UCC Amendment & Termination (additional UCC filing fees)

Burn Permit
Permits are required for most types of open burning. For a burn permit, call Shelburne Dispatch at 802-985-8051 and tell them you are a Ferrisburgh resident. To review the town's ordinance regulating open burning, click here.
