Ferrisburgh Land Use Regulations
In Ferrisburgh, VT, all land development requires a permit from the Town. The current Land Use Regulations were approved on March 2, 2021, though the town is actively updating them as of early 2026. These regulations combine zoning and subdivision rules to guide the town's growth while protecting its agricultural heritage and natural resources.
Permitting and Review Process
Zoning Permits: Required for most construction or changes in land use. Applications can be found on the Ferrisburgh Zoning Forms page.
Conditional Use Review: Some projects require a public hearing to ensure they are compatible with the "character of the area".
Subdivision Review: The Planning Commission must approve any plan to divide a parcel into two or more lots.
State-Level Permits: Larger projects may also be subject to Vermont's Act 250, which reviews environmental and community impacts for developments exceeding certain size thresholds.
