Zoning Board of Adjustment

Ferrisburgh Zoning Board of Adjustment (Zoning Board)

The Ferrisburgh Zoning Board of Adjustment reviews certain land use applications and appeals to ensure that proposed development complies with the Town of Ferrisburgh’s zoning and land use regulations. The Zoning Board also conducts public hearings and issues decisions on a variety of zoning-related matters.

Appeals of Zoning Decisions
The Zoning Board hears appeals of decisions made by the Zoning Administrator. Property owners or interested parties may request a review if they believe a zoning decision was made in error or does not comply with town regulations.

Variances
Property owners may apply for a variance when strict enforcement of zoning regulations would create an unnecessary hardship. The Zoning Board reviews these requests and determines whether they meet the legal standards required for approval.

Conditional Use Review
Certain types of development require additional review because of their potential impact on surrounding properties or the community. The Zoning Board evaluates conditional use applications to ensure they meet the standards outlined in the town’s zoning regulations.

Site Plan Review
For some projects, particularly commercial or multi-unit developments, the Zoning Board reviews site plans to evaluate building placement, parking areas, access, drainage, and other design elements.

Public Hearings
The Zoning Board conducts public hearings for applications and appeals. These hearings provide an opportunity for residents and interested parties to ask questions and share comments before the Board makes a decision. Through this process, the  Zoning Board helps ensure that development in Ferrisburgh follows the town’s regulations while protecting the health, safety, and character of the community.
