Annual Appropriation Requests & Town Report Submissions
The Town of Ferrisburgh has established a consistent annual process for nonprofit organizations and other entities requesting Town funding to be considered at Annual Town Meeting.
Organizations requesting an appropriation must complete the Annual Appropriation Request Form and provide the required supporting information by the annual deadline.
2027 Important Deadlines
January 4, 2027 – Annual Appropriation Request deadline
January 4, 2027 – Town Report submission deadline
January 14, 2027, by 4:00 PM – Voter Petition deadline
Appropriation Requests
Requests are reviewed by the Selectboard and generally fall into one of three categories:
Continuing Request: Same or lesser amount for the same or substantially similar purpose. A new voter petition is not ordinarily required solely to continue the funding request.
Increased Request: More than the amount previously approved. A voter petition may be required unless the Selectboard places the request on the Town Meeting warning when permitted by law.
New Request: An organization that did not receive a voter-authorized appropriation at the previous Annual Town Meeting. A voter petition may be required unless the Selectboard places the request on the warning when permitted by law.
Submitting an application does not guarantee that the request will be recommended by the Selectboard, included in the budget or warning, or approved by voters.
Town Report
Organizations receiving a Town appropriation are required to submit an annual report for inclusion in the Town of Ferrisburgh Annual Report.
The report should briefly describe the organization's activities and services, how Town funds were used, and the benefit provided to Ferrisburgh residents.
Town Report submissions are due January 4, 2027.
Voter Petitions
Under 17 V.S.A. ยง 2642(a)(3)(A), voter petitions for Annual Town Meeting articles must be filed with the Town Clerk not less than 47 days before the meeting.
For the March 2, 2027 Annual Town Meeting, petitions must be filed with the Town Clerk by January 14, 2027, at 4:00 PM.
Based on the current voter checklist of 2,384 registered voters, a petition would require at least 120 valid signatures, subject to applicable statutory requirements.
