🗳️ General Election: Tuesday, November 3, 2026 — this is the regular general election for federal and state offices.


The offices to be elected in 2026 include: U.S. Representative, Governor, Lieutenant Governor, Treasurer, Secretary of State, Auditor of Accounts, Attorney General, all (30) State Senate seats, all (150) State Representative seats, Probate Judge, Assistant Judges, State's Attorney, Sheriff, High Bailiff, and Justices of the Peace. Justice of the Peace (Major or Minor Party)
Major and minor party justice of the peace candidates are nominated by town caucus or town party committee in order to be placed on the ballot in the General Election (November 3, 2026). The caucus must be held on or before Monday, July 20, 2026 (the 3rd Monday in July before the Primary Election). If a town fails to hold a caucus, nominations may be made thereafter by party committee. In either case, the committee chair or secretary must file the statement of nomination with the town clerk no later than 5 p.m. Monday, July 27, 2026 (the 4th Monday in July before the Primary Election). No financial disclosure or consent of candidate form is required for justice of the peace nominations.

Justices of the Peace (Independent)
Independent justice of the peace candidates file a consent of candidate form with the town clerk in order to be placed on the ballot in the general election (November 3, 2026). These consent forms must be filed no sooner than Monday, April 27, 2026 and no later than 5 p.m. Monday, July 20, 2026 (the 3rd Monday in July before the Primary Election).

Independent: Can submit petitions during the time period-Monday, April 27, 2025 - Monday, July 20, 2025 17 V.S.A. § 2402


Voter Registration

Who Can Register

Vermont residents who are 18 years or older may register at any time — including on the day of the election. Registration is handled by the Town Clerk’s Office or via the statewide portal.

How to Register

  • Online: Use the Vermont Secretary of State’s My Voter Page.
  • In Person: Visit the Town Clerk’s office during business hours.
  • By Mail: Submit a completed voter registration form to the Town Clerk.

How to Vote

In Person Voting

  • Polls are open 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Election Day at the Ferrisburgh Town Hall & Community Center.

Absentee & Early Voting

  • You may request an absentee ballot any time during the election year.
  • Ballots may be returned by mail or delivered in person to the Town Clerk or polling place before polls close.
