The Town of Ferrisburgh requires permits for all work, access, or heavy-vehicle transport involving town-managed roads and rights-of-way.
🚜 Access & Driveway Permits
Required to create, modify, or change the use of any entrance (curb cut) connecting private property to a town highway.
- Key Requirement: Must be approved by the Road Foreman before applying for a Zoning Permit.

🏗️ Right-of-Way (Section 1111) Permits
Mandatory for any physical activity within the town's highway right-of-way.
- Common Projects: Utility installations (lines/pipes), ditching, grading, or landscaping.
- Note: A copy of the approved permit must be kept at the job site at all times.

🚛 Excess Weight Permits
Required for vehicles exceeding standard weight limits (typically over 24,000 lbs) traveling on Class 2, 3, or 4 town roads.
- Renewal: Permits are valid annually and expire March 31st.
- Required Docs: Must include a Certificate of Insurance ($100k/$300k Personal Injury).
- Fees: $5.00 per single vehicle | $10.00 per fleet.
