Vermont Vital Records Births/Deaths/Marriages/Civil Unions
Vermont Vital Records
Vital records document important life events such as births, deaths, marriages, and civil unions that occur in Vermont. The statewide vital records system is maintained by the Vermont Department of Health, while local copies of many records are also kept by town clerks. Vermont towns have been required to record vital events since 1857, and certified or non-certified copies may be issued by the Town Clerk or the State Vital Records Office. (healthvermont.gov)
Residents may obtain certified or non-certified copies of birth and death certificates (1909–present) and marriage or civil union certificates on file with the town. Genealogy searches are welcome and will be performed by the researcher.
Certified copies are $10.00 each and issued official security paper and require valid identification.
Non-certified copies are $1.00 each.
